Abstract

The primary purpose of this paper is to evaluate the perception of employees working with the insurance industry of India concerning their organizational culture from demographic perspectives. The research was carried over top four insurance organizations of the country ranked by IRDA during 2016-17 from both public as well as private sector. The sample size of 663 was calculated by using Cochran’s rule. A well-structured close-ended questionnaire was used to collect the data from sample respondents. The data collected was analyzed through various statistical techniques including T-test & one-way ANOVA using SPSS 20 statistics software. The results revealed that, the employee perceptions regarding the existing cultures of the sample organizations vary significantly from demographic perspectives except Gender of employees where variances were found statistically non-significant between the two groups. Thus this study suggests the need to introspect the cultural types existing in various public as well as private insurance organizations of India to increase the employee retention, which in turn will attract more and more talented youth towards this industry across the country.
